Auli Also known as a skier’s paradise, Auli has one of the best slopes in the world facilitating Himalayan Trekking in India. The 3km long slope ranges from 2519 m to 3049 m offers a magnificent panoramic view of great Himalayan peaks like the Nanda Devi(7817m), Kamet(7756m), Mana Parvat(7273m) and Dunagiri(7066m). You could reach Auli from Joshimath(1890m) by taking an enchanting 3 km ride on the world’s most highly situated and longest ropeway(cable car). A round trip costs Rs 200/- per person.
Skiing at Auli
Auli is at the distance of 16 Km. from Joshimath on Badrinath route. The world famous “Valley of Flowers” is very near from Auli. It is an ideal destination for tourist in winter season. Auli offers a 180 panoramic view of Himalayan peaks like the Nanda Devi (7,817mts.) Kamet (7,756 mts.) Mana Parvat (7,273 mts.) And Dunagiri (7,066 mts.)
Auli is one of the most beautiful hill station in north India, situated in Uttarakhand state. It is 3050 meters above from the sea level and comes in Chamoli district of Uttaranchal (now Uttarakhand). The steep slopes of Auli seem to beckon all the adventure seekers. It’s covered by snow during December to February, so skiing sports can be the main reason to visit Auli. Feel the rush of air on your face; when you go skiing on the well-dressed snow slopes, all the facilities are available for skiing here on hire.
Hemkund Sahib
One of the most sacred Sikh pilgrimage place, because Guru Govind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru (spiritual head of the Sikhs), had meditated by the Hemkund Lake in his previous birth. It is also an ideal trekking spot. It is around 28 Km. by road from Joshimath.
Valley of Flower
Way back in 1931, English mountaineer Frank Smythe, on his way back from an expedition to Mt Kamet, literally stumbled across the paradisal Bhyundar Valley, an 8-km long glacial corridor in Chamoli Garhwal. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains and carpeted with flowers- some 500 species, including the elusive brahmakamal, the cobra lily, the Himalayan edelweiss and the ethereal Himalayan blue poppy- the Valley forms one of India's most unusual protected areas. Declared a National Park in 1982, the Valley of Flowers stretches over an expanse of 87.50 sq km- an area which has steadily gained in popularity, not just among nature lovers, but also among eager-beaver trekkers over the past few years.
Gurso Bugyal
It is just 3 Kms from Auli, a vast meadow spread among forests of Oak and conifers. It offers a beautiful look of highest Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi and Trishul parvat. The Chattrakund, is located just a kilometer away from here. It is the location of a small sweet water lake by the same name. Gurso Bugyal offers green pastureland during the summer, its snow covered land during winter offer a challenging trek to the adventure lovers. |
