How to Reach Pushkar, Rajasthan |
 Pushkar is the venue of the world famous Pushkar Camel fair/festival. It is located 11 Km away from Ajmer, another popular tourist destination in Rajasthan. The Pushkar camel fair attracts tourists from all over the world to this small town in the state of Rajasthan. Pushkar is also an important pilgrim center for the Hindus, who come here for the holy dip in the Pushkar Lake. The Brahma temple is another attraction of Pushkar town. Pushkar is easily accessible by road, rail and air.
Ajmer serves as the base for most of the long-distance journeys to and from Pushkar. A small town, Pushkar does not have a railway station.
How to Reach Pushkar by Air
Jaipur is the nearest airport from Pushkar. It is about 138 km away from the Pushkar town. Regular buses from Jaipur are available for Pushkar. You can also hire taxi from Jaipur.
How to Reach Pushkar by Train
Ajmer, about 11 Km from Pushkar, is the nearest railhead and well connected to Delhi, Ahmedabad, Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur Udaipur and Abu Road by regular trains.
How to Reach Pushkar by Road
Pushkar is well connected to other cities and towns of Rajasthan. Regular bus services operate from Pushkar/Ajmer to popular destinations around. Distance from important tourist centers is as follows. Jaipur: 138 km.
Delhi: 392 km.
Ahmedabad: 526 km.
Jaisalmer: 490 km
Bikaner: 233 km
Timings
There is a steady flow of pilgrims throughout the year to Pushkar, which is among the five principal places of Hindu pilgrimage. It is, however transformed into a bustling fair-ground in the month of Kartik (October-November) when the annual Pushkar Fair and a cattle fair are held simultaneously. The fair starts from Kartik Shukla Ekadashi and goes on for 12 days, till Kartik Purnima. Both the religious fair and the cattle fair are now internationally renowned tourist attractions. A small fair is held in the month of Baisakh, which is primarily a local event.
